TLC’s What Not To Wear Gives Nick Arrojo the Snip?!

Nick Arrojo TLC's What Not To Wear

This one popped up and I had to spread it fast. Say it isn’t so! According to WWD, Nick Arrojo is being replaced by celebrity hair stylist Ted Gibson in order to keep the show “fresh.”. I agree Nick tends to repeat the same styles, but he’s by far one of the best colorist I’ve seen! He’s just not that much of a “finisher.” I was JUST having a discussion about how I’d love for him to do my hair and then I read that he’s being replaced!

I will definitely miss Nick and I hope that Ted has a personality to match his fresh styles. Nick Arrojo’s personality and honesty are two things I loved most!

I must admit that I’m excited about a new stylist and I hope that he can bring some fresh, fun, and FUNKY styles to the set! Ted Gibson has worked with celebrities such as Anne Hathaway, Angelina Jolie, Kiera Knightly and others. Appointments with the hair guru can cost up to $900! I reckon he won’t get his hands on these tresses! Click for more info.

About Ted (Courtesy of http://www.tedgibsonsalon.com/meetted.php):

“Ted Gibson has an intuitive, almost magical way of manipulating hair and his warm, engaging personality trickles down to the salon’s famously down-to earth atmosphere. Through his daily interactions styling celebrities and models for iconic magazines like Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair, Marie Claire, and Allure, Ted is tuned into what women want. “I really listen to what they have to say,” says Ted. “I cut hair with sensibility and ease so that my clients leave with a refreshed style without necessarily feeling like they’ve had all their hair cut off.”

Ted Gibson is one of the most sought-after celebrity hairstylists in the beauty business today. His multi-faceted career as a fashion, runway, editorial and celebrity stylist continues to take him around the world where he finds great beauty in exploring different cultures. Previously exclusive to just A-list celebrity clientele such as Angelina Jolie, Gabriella Union, Renee Zellweger, Keira Knightly and Anne Hathaway; Ted is now available for appointments at the ted gibson salon in New York City and D.C. Ted has also launched a prestige haircare collection, ted gibson beauty that is available at target.com. Both his haircare and body care collection provide the perfect regimen to help women find their true, individual beauty with the hair they were born with.

Born in Texas and raised in a military family, Ted has moved from one exotic place to the next. His cosmopolitan lifestyle of having lived in places such as Germany, Hawaii and Japan has opened up a new world for Ted. At an early age, he learned to appreciate the beauty and diversity of different cultures. Women around the world inspire him and he wants nothing less than for every woman to experience inspiration for herself. ?Orchids are the MOST beautiful flowers in the world,? says Gibson. “Like the women I encounter, they are inspiring, beautiful and evoke a sexiness which I believe every woman possesses. It is precisely these orchids that are essential ingredients in my beauty products.

Today, Ted divides his time between working with his clients, mentoring the ted gibson salon staff and creating new products to meet the needs of his clientele.”

Apparently, the change-a-roo happens this Friday, July 24th.

Nick was my favorite part of the show… love Stacy and Clinton, too, but Nick was great to watch in action. I don’t think it is a good idea to “fix something that’s not broken”… the show did not need this change to remain “fresh”. Very disappointed in this decision made by someone who is NOT in touch with the fans!!!!!!!!!!:(

I saw him and I don’t know if it was because the person was upset but he seemed to lack personality. Definitely a 180 to Nick.

I wondered what happened to Nick. I wasn’t a big fan of his work, especially on black women. I’m not sure about this new guy. I don’t care who he’s worked on (it’s not like celeb hair special hair), someone who would charge that much for a haircut is already in the minus column. Almost 1k for a cut, that is just sick. It’s hair, hair that actually grows back, unless you die right after the cut.

I watched the first one he was on, and he simply seemed to put color in her hair. It wasn’t a real cut at all. Nick gave different looks to them with layers and razored hairstyles. This guy left her with long same length hair that can draw down any face. I, actually, cut my hair due to watching Nick doing hair styles on here.

The girl was flipping out about a few inches of her split ends being cut off. If he had done much more she’d have flipped! The color looked gorgeous on her, I hope she didn’t go back to being a dishwater “blonde” bomb shell. I prefer Nick’s personality and the show will be different without him, but I applaud the new guy’s work so far! Not his fault the first chick was opposed to change!

D: He was a great hairstylist; the snipping was one of the best parts of the show. I hope Gibson is at least better than Nick.

nick was a terrible stylist! – I always went to another room or switched channels when he came on because it was just too painful to watch.

i like what ted does with hair, but he doesn’t have the personality for tv. he’s very blah and unenthusiastic on tv.

Oh Nick – nice guy but he made 2 major on going faux pas-he made MANY of the women look like helmet headed real estate agents without their gold polyester jackets, and worst of all, he continually took the natural wave out of hair and replaced it with the flat ironed boring look that every flat ironed, curl hating women wears who is fooled into believing it looks good. Glad to see a new look for WNTW.

I agree that Nick’s hairstyles were always the same. BUT, they worked! Just about every woman came away from Nick at least 10 years younger. So far, I’m very disappointed in Ted’s work. Neither hairstyle was very impressive. The first week, other than making her hair a little bit darker, her hair style looked almost the same as before. This past week wasn’t much better. Also, Ted doesn’t seem to have much personality. My favorite part of the show is the hair and make up. Right now, it’s boring. Bring Nick back.

Just watched What Not to Wear and learned of Nick’s replacement. He was one of the best aspects of the show and his absence may affect any plans I have to watch in the future . Too bad :(

I have watched Ted, but do not like the hair cuts, the women on this show are just ordinary people, not ’stars’ and nick gave them haircuts that fit their lives, and lets face it most women look better with short hair because long hair makes thin faces look too thin and older faces look more saggy. i think ted seems like a nice man, but i like nick’s hair styles better and he is kind of cool.

What not to do! You did it!!!!!!!!!!!
Although I adore Clinton and Stacy, I can’t crack their code on the wardrobes, but Nick I could understand and absolutely wonder how he does that seemingly backwards cutting which amazingly turns out as a wonderful style. They should write a song to it, like the “Typewriter Song” of olden days when Jerry Lewis was typing in a movie. Or just PLAY the “Typewriter Song.”

BRING BACK NICK! BRING BACK NICK! BRING BACK NICK! BRING BACK NICK! BRING BACK NICK! BRING BACK NICK! BRING BACK NICK! BRING BACK NICK! BRING BACK NICK! BRING BACK NICK! BRING BACK NICK! BRING BACK NICK! VBRING BACK NICK!

My daughter and I just watched What Not to Wear. We were shocked to see someone else in Nick’s place. We make a date every weekend (almost every weekend) to watch the show and can’t wait to see how Nick transforms the participants. My daughter and I are very disappointed and are considering dropping the show. Please bring back Nick. He is wonderful and always, whether the participants see it or not, makes the ladies (or men) look so much better.

Have to say that Nick was my favorite part of the show that my girlfriend got me hooked on as much as I hate to say it.

We actually went and both got our hair done by him and he was even nicer and more genuine in person. What a wonderful experience. His staff is great too.

We won’t be watching the show any longer and everyone of our friends that watched it said the same thing. Seems about as silly as when they changed the “Coke” formula and lost 70% of their customers several years ago. About on the same level of stupid in my opinion.

If you get a chance and you like Nick, go get your hair cut by him. Worth every penny and then some.

I predict that the shows ratings will tank after this… Oh well…. I am sure Nick will do just fine.
